The speaker of the evening Mr. Sam George of American College was introduced to the august gathering by Rtn. P.Ramaswamy.
Sam.G. worked in American College as lecturer in Zoology Department from year 1970-2003. But his interest in varied subjects prompted our club to invite him to speak on a hot topic BLOGOSPHERE.
The power point aided presentation along with the eloquence of the speaker kept members attention intact for the 40m minutes talk.
Just like the way email revolutionized the world in 1990’s and the cell phones in 22000’s. Blogosphere is set to change the face of communication now.
The work BLOG is derived from the merger of words: WEB + LOG. To simplify it, BLOG is a platform (something similar to website) where youi can write whatever you think and whatever you want to share. The main difference being, you need not spend even a single penny. And in a website, you need to keep on reviewing your website but in a BLOG it stays on forever.
This concept of BLOG was started in the year 1994. but it got popular in India only in 2005. since then lots of BLOGS of varied interest has been created.. Our Speaker is one among the first 500 bloggers in 2005. Hence his hands on experience could be felt all along his speech.
Creating a BLOG is as simple as you create your email id. Just log on to website https://www.blogger.com/start. Any email savvy person can create a BLOG in less than 3 minutes in 3 easy steps.
The speaker showed a step by stop visuals of this creation process and the way you actually load it. Once created you can write any article of your interest. (it could be your own business / religion / opinions / heritage / movies etc.) And the beauty is you can even maintain your BLOG in Tamil.
The speaker highlighted why everyone of us need to maintain a blog. Some of them are:
--- you communicate with like minded people
--- you get friends from all over the world
--- variety of people with varied intellectual standings
--- a clean pastime
--- intellectual exercise
May be you can bring out your creativity and spend your timeusefully too …
Even with limited resources, you can express yourself. It is upto the reader to accept your views or not
Above all you learn a lot from other BLOG sites. You can keep on upgrading yourselves.
With lots of elite members in our club, this new emerging field of BLOGOSPHERE was much interesting. Of course if you want to find the taste of an apple, you need to bite it first. But for that, the speech was well received and it was an eye opener for many of our members. We hope many of our members start their own BLOG where in they share their experience and expertise. This is not only entertaining and useful for our members - but to the entire world. So start BLOGGING ….
